It was the perfect morning today to make some bread. I had the fire going in the kitchen, the dogs were curled up in their baskets having a mid morning nap and the radio was tuned to my favorite programme.
Last week I bought the new Alison Holst cookbook on breadmaking and this five seed loaf was a doddle to make...really easy.
It turned out to be very delicious indeed, and all I need to do now is make some Leek and Potatoe soup to go with it for tonight's dinner.

I love seeds in bread! Potato Leek soup is wonderful, too. I have an old La Leche League recipe for it that I use regularly in the cold months.
With our weather promised to be over 100 degrees tomorrow, the thought of cold weather and its accompanying foods sounds delightful to me.

Yum! Isn't bread making fun! That does look just the thing to accompany a big pot of leek and potato soup. I'm rather proud of my crop of leeks this year, although I do have every size from pencil thin to sturdy trunks in the same patch.

I made this exact same dinner last week, i love potato leek soup. My bread recipe came from the Tassajara bread book. My very favorite meal, soup and bread.

Funny you should be making bread - I was thinking about doing that this weekend. I have all this fresh yeast harboured in my mother's kitchen and I have not yet made good use of it and soon I'll be off to France so it will go to waste. Afraid I'll forget all my newly learnt cookery skills if I don't start taking action now...it does look yummy! xxx
