I finally found a feijoa, at a grocery store in North Carolina. I think it was two or three dollars for a tiny one about the size of a small egg.
I also wanted to comment on your quilt; the colors are so unusual and beautiful. Your work seems to take cues from the seasons and I'm sure that's no accident. But is it an accident the word verification for a Wisconsinite is "chedar?" ;-)

once you fly up there, driving and taking the ferry seems so unbelievably long! you may never go back to driving once you fly!
